Job Description

As the Planning Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing operational plans and schedules to ensure the efficient utilization of resources and the timely execution of activities.
Your role will be critical in driving operational excellence, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction across our maritime operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive operational plans and schedules for vessel movements, cargo handling, and other activities, taking into account factors such as vessel capacities, port availability, weather conditions, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments, including operations, logistics, procurement, and customer service, to align planning efforts with business objectives and priorities.
  • Monitor operational metrics to assess performance against targets and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct capacity planning and resource allocation to ensure optimal utilization of vessels, equipment, and personnel, balancing operational efficiency with cost considerations.
  • Coordinate with port authorities, terminal operators, and other external stakeholders to secure berths, loading/unloading facilities, and other resources needed for operations.
  • Prepare and communicate operational plans, schedules, and instructions to relevant stakeholders, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Anticipate and proactively address potential operational challenges, such as delays, disruptions, or equipment failures, implementing contingency plans as needed.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, market trends, and regulatory changes affecting maritime operations, and incorporate relevant insights into planning processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management,
  • Business Administration, or a related field with 3-8 years experience.
  • Proven experience in planning and scheduling, preferably in the maritime industry or a related sector.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using planning software, spreadsheets, and other relevant tools.
  • Knowledge of maritime logistics, port operations, and international trade regulations (preferred).
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational requirements
