Responsibilities

  • Draft up legal agreements/review contracts as needed.
  • Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
  • Provide advice /opinion on corporate legal issues and business matters.
  • Advise across the organisation on legal effects of policy proposals;
  • Assist Unit Head in the implementation of the required legal services
  • Write and/or edit briefs and other litigation materials as required.
  • Provide legal advice on domestic, comparative and international law as they relate to the workplace.
  • Work with representatives from the regulatory organisations to foster compliance
  • Reviewing proposed legal arguments with the Unit Head
  • Follow-up on cases and analyse case outcomes and important arguments made
  • Provide all such other administrative and other secretarial duties as directed by the Legal Counsel & Company Secretary.
  • Monitor the maintenance of the registers and other records required to be maintained by the Company under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).
  • Ensure the development of service level agreements for service support and delivery.

 

Requirements

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • A minimum Degree in LLB.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an active capacity. Ideally 5 years.
  • Proven track record of drafting, reviewing and editing agreements and contracts.
  • Familiarity with local and international Laws and regulations

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Being current with the Knowledge of law reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory law.
  • Good knowledge and ability to interpret legislation into practical applications.
