Job Summary
- The Guidance and Counsellor is responsible for supporting students’ academic, social, emotional, and career development.
- The role involves providing counselling services, guiding students on academic and personal issues, and promoting a safe and supportive learning environment within the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counselling to students on academic, emotional, behavioral, and social challenges.
- Support students in developing effective study habits, time management, and personal development skills.
- Guide students in making informed academic and career decisions.
- Identify students experiencing difficulties and provide appropriate interventions or referrals when necessary.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and school management to support students’ overall wellbeing.
- Develop and implement counselling programs, workshops, and seminars on topics such as mental health, bullying prevention, and career planning.
- Maintain confidential student counselling records and reports.
- Assist in resolving student conflicts and behavioral issues.
- Support students during periods of stress, transition, or personal challenges.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Guidance and Counselling, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Professional certification or membership in a counselling or psychological association is an added advantage.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in counselling, preferably in an educational institution.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and student welfare.
- Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
