Job Summary

  • The Guidance and Counsellor is responsible for supporting students’ academic, social, emotional, and career development.
  • The role involves providing counselling services, guiding students on academic and personal issues, and promoting a safe and supportive learning environment within the school.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counselling to students on academic, emotional, behavioral, and social challenges.
  • Support students in developing effective study habits, time management, and personal development skills.
  • Guide students in making informed academic and career decisions.
  • Identify students experiencing difficulties and provide appropriate interventions or referrals when necessary.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and school management to support students’ overall wellbeing.
  • Develop and implement counselling programs, workshops, and seminars on topics such as mental health, bullying prevention, and career planning.
  • Maintain confidential student counselling records and reports.
  • Assist in resolving student conflicts and behavioral issues.
  • Support students during periods of stress, transition, or personal challenges.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Guidance and Counselling, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Professional certification or membership in a counselling or psychological association is an added advantage.
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in counselling, preferably in an educational institution.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development and student welfare.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
