Job Summary
- The Professional Editor and Content Development Officer will be responsible for developing, refining, editing, organising, and repurposing the teachings, books, articles, newsletters, scripts, devotionals, prayer materials, training manuals, and digital content of Voice of Destiny Academy.
- The role exists to ensure that thecontent is clear, biblically sound, well-structured, professionally edited, spiritually aligned, audience-appropriate, and ready for publishing, teaching, training, and digital distribution.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development:
- Develop raw ideas, voice notes, teaching points, sermon outlines, meeting insights, and reflections into structured written content.
- Convert teachings into articles, devotionals, newsletters, study guides, workbooks, scripts, manuals, prayer points, declarations, and social media content.
Professional Editing:
- Edit manuscripts, articles, newsletters, devotionals, teaching notes, workbooks, scripts, manuals, and prayer guides for clarity, grammar, structure, flow, tone, accuracy, and consistency.
- Carry out developmental editing, structural editing, copyediting, and proofreading.
- Ensure that all content is well-organised, readable, engaging, transformational, and suitable for the target audience.
Biblical and Doctrinal Accuracy:
- Review scripture references for accuracy, relevance, and context.
- Ensure that biblical illustrations, principles, and applications are handled responsibly.
Newsletter, Script, and Digital Content Support:
- Develop video scripts, teaching scripts, webinar scripts, podcast scripts, speaker introductions, programme scripts, voice-over scripts, and social media captions.
- Support the creation of content for email campaigns, WhatsApp broadcasts, community updates, and online engagement.
Book and Publishing Support:
- Assist with chapter development, manuscript organisation, table of contents, preface, foreword, dedication, acknowledgements, reflection sections, and end-of-chapter prayers.
- Track manuscript progress, editing deadlines, publishing timelines, and content completion status.
Research and Content Enrichment:
- Source relevant illustrations, stories, leadership lessons, biblical examples, and practical applications
- Support the development of high-quality content that is spiritually sound, intellectually engaging, emotionally compelling, and practically useful.
Content Bank and Editorial System:
- Maintain an editorial calendar for weekly, monthly, and seasonal content
- Track all content projects from idea stage to draft, review, approval, publishing, and archive.
Collaboration and Programme Support:
- Work with the Programme Coordinator, Social Media Officer, Design Team, and other support staff to ensure that content is ready for programmes, promotions, publications, and digital platforms.
- Attend content planning meetings, review sessions, and programme preparation meetings as required.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree or relevant qualification in English, Mass Communication, Journalism, Literature, Theology, Religious Studies, Education, Creative Writing, or a related field is an advantage.
- At least 2 to 4 years’ experience in writing, editing, publishing, content development, journalism, ministry content, or communications.
- Strong portfolio of written or edited work.
- Experience with Christian, leadership, educational, devotional, or transformational content will be an added advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Strong ability to structure raw thoughts into clear, engaging, and publishable content
- Good understanding of Christian language, biblical principles, and faith-based communication.
- Ability to preserve the author’s voice while improving clarity and quality.
- Ability to write newsletters, scripts, articles, devotionals, captions, and teaching materials.
- Strong research ability.• Ability to work with deadlines and manage multiple content projects.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, PowerPoint, Canva, Google Drive, and basic digital collaboration tools.
