Job Summary

  • We are seeking a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, ensuring that projects are completed within budget.
  • The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to provide accurate cost estimates, financial reports, and cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and overheads.
  • Analyze project plans and specifications to assess the financial implications.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
  • Monitor expenses and prepare regular budget reports for stakeholders.
  • Prepare tender documents and assist in the tendering process.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the best prices.
  • Monitor project progress and costs, identifying any discrepancies or potential financial issues.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Conduct valuations of work completed and prepare payment applications for contractors and subcontractors.
  • Assess variations and claims and provide recommendations for approval.
  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Attend project meetings and provide expert advice on cost-related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in legislation affecting construction costs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., RICS, NIQS) is preferred.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
