Junior Terminal Accountant

Job Summary

• The Terminal Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial activities of a terminal facility.
• This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and effective financial controls.
• The Terminal Accountant supports terminal operations by monitoring revenues, expenses, inventory, and reconciliations while providing financial insights to management.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting:

• Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate posting of transactions.
• Perform account reconciliations (bank, cash, receivables, payables, inventory).
• Monitor terminal revenue streams and operational expenses.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.

Revenue & Billing Management:

• Verify billing accuracy for terminal services (storage, handling, docking, fuel, cargo, etc.).
• Reconcile customer invoices and ensure timely collections.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
• Coordinate with operations to validate service records and charges.

Expense Control & Cost Monitoring:

• Review and approve purchase requests in line with budget limits.
• Track operational expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor petty cash and daily cash collections where applicable.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Maintain proper documentation for regulatory and tax purposes.
• Implement and maintain internal financial controls.
