Description

  • We are seeking a competent, detail-oriented, experienced Senior Geoscientist to be involved in seismic interpretation, subsurface mapping, and collaboration with engineering teams to enhance field performance.
  • The ideal candidate would be responsible for interpreting and integrating geological, geophysical, and well data to evaluate subsurface formations, identify hydrocarbons and prospects, and support exploration, appraisal, development, and production activities. The role involves seismic interpretation, geological modelling, subsurface mapping, reservoir characterization, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to optimize asset value and reduce subsurface uncertainty

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret seismic, well log, and core data to develop geological and structural maps.
  • Evaluate subsurface formations to identify oil and gas prospects.
  • Support drilling operations with geologic prognosis and real-time well data analysis.
  • Integrate geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data for reservoir characterization.
  • Prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations for management and partners.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE standards in all field and operational activities.
  • Coordinate technical reports, geological maps, cross-sections, presentations, and other subsurface deliverables for management, partners, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Participate in technical reviews, peer assists, asset team meetings, and multidisciplinary subsurface studies.
  • Evaluate new geological opportunities and contribute to prospect generation and maturation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized geological databases and ensure quality control of subsurface data.
  • Ensure all geological and operational activities comply with applicable HSE policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in geology, geophysics, or related field.
  • 8+ years’ experience in exploration or production geology.
  • Proficiency in software such as Petrel, Kingdom, or ArcGIS.
  • Strong analytical, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Membership in NAPE or AAPG is an advantage.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams involving geologists, geophysicists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and production engineers.
  • Knowledge of exploration and production workflows, including well planning and formation evaluation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Membership of NAPE (Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists), AAPG, or another relevant professional body is an advantage.
