African Foundries Limited (AFL) was established to support the accelerating growth in Nigeria by making the country self-reliant for steel rebars and eliminating its dependence on imported rebars. AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million-ton per year capacity for high strength rebars and allied products.

 

Job Summary

  • The TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Engineer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and sustaining TPM initiatives across the plant.
  • This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes unplanned downtime, and drives continuous improvement in plant performance, safety, and efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement TPM strategies for all mechanical equipment and production lines.
  • Lead Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Planned Maintenance (PM) activities across departments.
  • Analyze equipment breakdown data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance schedules for mechanical assets.
  • Train and coach operators and technicians on TPM principles and machine care.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and safety teams to ensure alignment of TPM initiatives.
  • Maintain proper documentation, reporting KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE performance.
  • Support spare parts management by providing input on critical spares and consumption trends.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: B.Eng / B.sc / HND in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Certification in TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Reliability Engineering is an added advantage
  • Experience: 3–6 years of maintenance/TPM experience in a steel manufacturing, heavy engineering, or process industry environment.
