Job Summary

• A Chinese food residence chef is responsible for planning, preparingand cooking authentic, high-quality Chinese meals tailored to the preferences of the household, often with a focus on nutrition, varietyand dietary needs. Unlike restaurant chefs, they work in a private home, managing the kitchen and inventory

Key Responsibilities

Here is a detailed job description based on typical responsibilities and requirements:

• Cook a variety of authentic Chinese dishes (e.g., Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Dim Sum) tailored to the family’s tastes, including lunch, dinnerand snacks.
• Develop weekly menus, ensuring a balance of flavors, nutritional value
• Maintain inventory levels and manage kitchen budgets.
• Maintain impeccable cleanliness, hygiene and organization in the kitchen, following all food safety standards
• Plate and serve meals, ranging from casual family dining to formal dinner parties.
• Proper care and usage of, for instance, work stations, steamers and rice cookers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience (usually 3-5+ years) as a Chinese chef, preferably with experience in high-end, private or luxury residential settings.
• In-depth knowledge of traditional Chinese cooking techniques (stir-frying, steaming, braising, roasting).
• Ability to create both traditional and modern, innovativeor fusion dishes.
• High-level organizational skills, with the ability to work independently to manage all aspects of the kitchen.
• Good communication skills to discuss meal preferences with the household, often in English.
